Great backup solution: Acronis Imaging

I’ve been asked a lot lately about what I use for a backup solution so I figured I’d make a post about it. I use a great product called Acronis True Image 9.0 Home.
Acronis provides both a standard file-based backup option or a full complete imaging solution. For those who are unaware, imaging basically means doing a full dump of your hard drive(s) image so that should you have a complete drive failure you can bring your PC back to a full working state without any reinstallation.
Even if you don’t use the imaging portion the stand file-based backup capabilities are excellent as well. It gives you all the standard options of doing differential or incremental backups and is very intuitive.
I backup my laptop on a regular basis using Acronis and a bus powered USB portable 80GB hard drive that I purchased at Costco. Acronis cost $49.99 and depending on the size you can get a USB hard drive starting around $80. Small price to pay to ensure all my date is backed up on a regular basis.
