One of the best things about the Google homepage is it is simple. You have a text box to enter your search phrase, a fun logo, and less than a dozen links. SIMPLE. As you also may or may not have noticed Google has never placed a single ad on their homepage even though it is arguably the most lucatrive page on the web.

Now forget all that…because this post is about making the Google homepage anything but simple. You can personalize your Google homepage, much like what you can do with Yahoo and MSN, however unlike those two you won’t see any ads- which is a huge plus! This is what my personalized Google looks like:

So what can you do on this personalized Google homepage? A lot is the easy answer, more specially though can you add a preview of your gmail email, google calendar, local weather, stock quotes, movies, quote of the day, news content, anything with an RSS feed, and much much more. The RSS feed is my favorite, you can use it to keep a tab on your favorite sites and blogs, such as this one! ;)

Creating the page is easy, all you need is a Google account (if you have gmail than you already have one) and a few minutes of time to set it up. Just click on the Pesonalized Home link on the top right corner to get started. Google provides a lot of content to add within the interface but you can also add anything with a RSS feed. To do so just copy the RSS URL, click Add Content on your Google page and paste it in the text box. SIMPLE.

Just going through the possible things to add to the homepage was amazing. There are so many interesting web pages that I didn’t even know existed that can be added with simply a click. Thanks for the info.
