Legends of Rap…

If you follow this site you know what a huge fan I am of indie rock now. But back when I was in high school I was into rap big time. Of course back then in the mid/late 90s that is when I think it was at it’s best, the Golden Age of Hip-Hop. You had 2pac, Notorious B.I.G, Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, and the best of them all Wu-Tang Clan. That time also produced the greatest rap album of all time, Wu-Tang Clan’s Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers). That isn’t just my opinion either, it’s widely regarded as one of the best rap albums of all time, and one of the best albums of any genre in the 90s, if not all time.
Why I am suddenly talking about this? Well two reasons, first the Wu-Tang is coming to Orlando this week, and then this morning I just came across lots of their old videos from the 90s that I never saw until this morning. So I guess I wanted to share my personal rap history. It’s too bad no one today even comes close to the Wu, which is why Hip-Hop/Rap is only a shell of what it used to be. See below for two of the greatest rap songs of all time!
Wu-Tang Clan: C.R.E.A.M (cash rules everything around me)
Wu-Tang Clan: Protect Ya Neck
It’s funny, because I went through a rap phase when I was an adolescent as well, and I remember you going through the rap phase you’re talking about. Anyway, I’m going with Low End Theory by A Tribe Called Quest as my personal top rap album of all-time. 36 Chambers is up there though.
Unless I’m crazy, I remember you listening to Tribe way back then. I like them too, just not as much as the Wu…
