So I was in Atlanta this weekend to check out my sister-in-law Kacy & my boy Tom’s new place up there. Sadly they just left us as Tom got a job offer that was too good to pass. I must say I scratched my head a bit at them moving to Atlanta since they were talking about leaving Orlando for cool places like NYC or Chicago. I’d been to Atlanta a few times and never came away impressed. Well apparently I didn’t visit the right spots before as I was really impressed with Atlanta this time. They are in the Midtown area right near the Fox Theater, Piedmont Park, and Ga Tech. Great downtown lifestyle, lots of fun restaurants and bars, and important for me– great jogging routes. So my props to Hot-lanta.

On a separate but related note while there I had the pleasure to discover Closing Time, Tom Waits first ever album back from 1973 as my buddy Tom is a huge Waits fan. I’m not a huge Waits fan myself, but I do enjoy some of his songs for sure. Well I am absolutely blown away by this album. Top to bottom there are some fantastic tracks, a couple of them I think may end up being some of my all time favs. Check it out…no really.

Ironically it’s worth noting that these two merge this weekend when Tom Waits plays at the Fox Theater in downtown Atlanta. Tom and Kacy have tickets and Tom will be in absolu heaven.
