BloodWork

Blood Work is about a retired FBI agent recovering from a heart transplant that tries to solve a murder case that has been collecting dust at LAPD. He agrees to look into the case only after he finds out that, unknowingly, he was the beneficiary of the victim dying as he received her heart, a heart that was of a very rare blood type. As he digs further into the case he finds interesting turns and unexpected revelations. I don’t want to spoil any of the twists so I’ll stop right there.

I’m becoming a huge Michael Connelly fan, and this book is my second favorite of the four I’ve now read- behind only The Poet. If you liked The Poet or The Narrows I have no doubt you will love this book.

Connelly really knows how to keep the reader interested and how to keep the action flowing. The ending was not what I expected which is great because I hate when I can figure out what is going to happen halfway into the book. A fun summer read that may only take you a few days to read, check it out. Now I’m going to rent the movie and watch it, I’m sure as usual it won’t be nearly as good as the book- although it does star Client Eastwood.
